I'm raising money for some of Queensland's sickest kids!

I’ve created this page because I’ve committed to going the distance this August and raising money for the Children’s Hospital Foundation!

Please support my 42k Your Way challenge by donating any amount large or small by using the ‘donate’ button. Not only will you be supporting me, but you’ll also be supporting thousands of sick kids and their families!

The more people that know about the Children’s Hospital Foundation, the greater their impact, so please spread the word by sharing my fundraising page with your friends and family.

Thank you so much for your generosity, it means a lot!

My Updates

AJ

In January this year we found a 10cm x 7cm tumour in AJ’s belly. We were the lucky ones and after lots of tests found out it was benign.

Words can not describe those days of waiting to find out what it was. It was the scariest experience of my life. And it all happened only 4 months after I lost my mum to brain cancer. To say I was dealing was an understatement. 🥹

AJ began treatment on a similar medicine to what lung cancer patients would use and received treatment at Brisbane Children’s Hospital.

In an already scary and emotionally draining experience I’m so grateful for the incredible doctors, nurses, admin staff, nurse navigators, social workers, family services and everyone that we saw there. The amount of empathy and understanding from them was amazing and I’m forever grateful that we (those living in Australia) have access to such incredible free health care.

On Friday (6 months after his initial diagnosis) AJ is officially tumour free!!

I’m forever grateful that we were so lucky. And I have no doubt that my mum was his guardian angel the whole time.

Those days when AJ was in hospital I was blown away with the generosity of the donations that made his stay & subsequent hospital appointments & scans easier. The toys, night lights, Lego, blankets, iPad & subsidised car parking - all wouldn’t be possible without donations from people like you & me. It’s incredibly hard for families and little ones to be in hospital away from their loved ones, away from their home & pets and these moments honestly lit up his day.

I also think about all those families that have to travel & leave home for long periods of time.

In the month of August, Chris & I will be running @42kyourway to raise money for sick kids. These donations made AJ’s and our world. 🧡 We were so grateful and it was all so unexpected. Now we would like to help as much as we can.

Please donate if you can. Even $5 (the cost of a coffee is much appreciated) & it all adds up to make the difference in a family’s life that is going through something pretty traumatic & may not be as lucky as AJ & our family.

Thank you. From the bottom of our hearts.

Meet Evie

Six-year-old Evie was only four weeks old when she was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis - a life-threatening disorder that damages the lungs and digestive system.

It is expected that Evie will require a double lung transplant eventually. To receive treatment Evie spends four to six weeks away from her home in Chinchilla each time, saying goodbye to her dad, friends and animals.
