I'm raising money for Patient and family services

I've created this page because I want to make a difference and give back to a foundation that continues to support our family.

We’ve personally benefited from the work that the Children’s Hospital Foundation fund in patient and family services. We’ve been supported with handmade quilts to brighten sterile rooms, music players and tunes for in hospital entertainment, bravery beads to recognise Matilda’s challenges and progress, hot coffees on hard days and we continue to be supported by the wonderful volunteers that supervise and play with Rose at the hospital ‘Kidzone’ while we are busy with appointments - it’s transformed her experience of a sick sibling into one intertwined with a little bit of fun. I wanted to raise money and recognition for them as part of my participation in 42k Your Way.

Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'donate' button. The more people that know about the Children’s Hospital Foundation, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

My Updates

We did it!!!

We made it to the end of the 42k Your Way challenge! I have been blown away by the generous donattions and support I have received over the past month and want to say a big heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, walked with me and sent messages of support. I am very proud to have raised over $1,800 for the Children’s Hopsital Foundation and to have exceeded the 42km I set out to achieve, tracking 62km in August. A special big thanks to my family, especially my little Tilly who patiently accompanied me on almost all the k’s. Big love

UQ walk - turtle spotting

I managed a 4km walk this morning over the Eleanor Schonell bridge and around the UQ lakes. It was a beautiful sunny day and I’m starting to wonder if I’ll end up with a face mask tan? We were greeted with a bunch of turtles sunning themselves by the lake. I counted 14 together at one point in time! Tilly slept soundly in the carrier the whole time. Is it just me or should km’s with a baby strapped to you count as extra?

Made it to 42km! I won’t stop here and will keep walking throughout August

Today I officially clocked 42km! It was a beautiful day here in Brisbane so I headed to the bayside for some sunshine and salty air. It was a beautiful way to pass the 42km milestone. Given there is still plenty of time in August I have decided I will not stop here and will keep walking and clocking the k’s throughout August for sick kids and their families 😊

A change of scenery

Today I did a ‘destination walk’ down by the Brisbane river. It was a grey day by Brisbane standards but it was still beautiful 🌞

Making great progress

Thanks to all my wonderful supporters - I’m so proud of how much we’ve been able to raise and it’s kept me motivated to keep the km’s ticking along. I managed 4km early this week walking to Kindy drop off and pick up and keep exploring all the green places I can find on the map around my neighbourhood. Today I managed a 5km walk with the pram rob through the Tarrangindi recreation reserve. It is a lovely little pocket of bush and birdsong. Brisbane is so lush and green and I feel so grateful to live and walk here. I’m starting to feel although I’ve exhausted what’s exciting in my immediate neighbourhood and am looking forward to some ‘destination’ walks soon.

First week of the challenge complete!

I’ve made it through the first week of the 42k your way challenge! The whole of this week has been spent in lockdown which is not quite what I expected when I signed up. I must admit that getting out for my walks has been a highlight of my days. The lockdown has inspired (and required) me to keep walks local and I’ve some of my favourite spots close to home and have also discovered some really beautiful new places. I’ve been adding images from the sights and scenery along the way to share with anyone following along.

Finding local havens

Today I took some time by myself to get some km’s under my belt. With the lockdown in full swing I chose to stay close to home and discover some new pathways. It was a lovely 6km walk today along Norman Creek. The path started out at the new wetlands that are being re-naturalised by council and transitioned into mangroves. The tide was in and I could smell the ocean. I found this beautiful bridge over the creek and enjoyed the shady walk today. The new wetlands have attracted lots of birds and I was lucky enough to spot new fluffy ducklings and we’ll as some other cute new little water birds. I’ll add more pics in my gallery.

We’ve started

First walk down - 38km to go!

Thank you!

I’ve been completely blown away by the donations I’ve received so far. I think I need to update my goal! Big thanks to everyone who has supported me so far  - I can’t wait to start counting the km’s in just a few days.
